Apply Now to PhD Journey 2025: 1st October – 28th November 2025

Are you a doctoral candidate yourself, do you supervise or know doctoral candidates at HSMW who are conducting research in the field of sustainability, or specifically responsible consumption and production? Then take a look at the Blended Intensive Programme “PhD Journey” by EURECA-PRO.

TU Bergakademie Freiberg, HSMW and Universidad de León are co-organising the programme, which spans several weeks and allows researchers to gain topic-specific skills and experience, build contacts and access our partners' laboratories. Following an online component beginning on 1^st October, the on-campus week from 24^th to 28^th November is the highlight. Participants spend these days depending on the research topic at TU Bergakademie Freiberg, HSMW or Universidad de León in Spain.

Interested candidates can find the conditions of participation on the EURECA-PRO website, where they can also apply until 8^th September. If successful, doctoral students please contact the EURECA-PRO team at HSMW via [email] for further organisation.

Student Testimonial: 19th Freiberg Colloquium of Young Researchers - A perfect balance of learning, sharing, and growing!

EURECA-PRO TUC Student Ambassadors and doctoral students Agapi Orfanoudaki and Marios Salinas report back from the 19th Young Researcher's Colloquium that took place in Freiberg, Germany, organised by TU Bergakademie Freiberg between 2-6 of June:

"Our experience at the Freiberg Colloquium 2025 was nothing short of inspiring. From June 2–6, we had the unique opportunity to join young researchers from across Europe in a vibrant exchange of ideas on Responsible Consumption and Production in the Use of the Earth’s Resources.

It was a well-structured week that combined high-level academic dialogue with meaningful cultural and professional experiences.

💡 Insightful Presentations: We presented our own research and gained valuable feedback while learning from peers working on innovative sustainability solutions across diverse disciplines. The experience of presenting in such an international setting was truly empowering—and even more so as Marios Salinas (TUC) was honored with one of the Best Presentation Awards, a recognition that made the week even more memorable.

🌍 Training for Impact: A focused course on excellence in sustainability research offered tools and methodologies that we are already excited to implement in our future work.

✅ Industrial & Research Excursions: We explored leading local institutions and companies at the forefront of sustainable resource management—Freiberg’s rich mining heritage provided the perfect backdrop for future-oriented conversations.

🤝 Meaningful Connections: Beyond academic collaboration, we connected through evening social events, making lasting friendships and expanding our professional networks.

🎶🎨🎭 Cultural Exchange: A crash course in German and an immersive cultural program reminded us how language and local context can strengthen international cooperation.

🫶 We are deeply grateful to the organizers of the Colloquium and the EURECA-PRO Alliance for making this experience possible. It was a perfect balance of learning, sharing, and growing—both as researchers and individuals."

Become a Student Ambassador

Become an ambassador

Becoming an EURECA-PRO ambassador unlocks a realm of professional possibilities that enhance student experience. Be prepared to represent TUC in events and activities abroad as a member of EURECA-PRO's Student Council, to meet new people and network and acquire a host of new skills and expertise in the fields of RCP. Enrich your existing studies and research by gaining access to resources, staff and educational opportunities provided by the 9 partner universities of the EURECA-PRO alliance. Being a student at TUC can now lead to being a EUROPEAN student at 9 established and dynamic Universities.

Being an EURECA-PRO ambassador also means that you are part of TUC's local team of ambassadors and volunteers and your role is key to the university's student life, the organisational support of outreach and milestone events such as the "Welcome Day" and "Science and Technology Day: Thelma Mavridou".

Your experience as a student ambassador will have a strong impact on your future career and professional life.
