The Laboratory of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering and the SenseLab Space Informatics Research Group of the Technical University of Crete, under the scientific coordination of Prof. Panagiotis Partsinevelos in cooperation with Dr. Danijela Ignjatović and the support of the European Aerospace Science Network (EASN) and the European University on Responsible Consumption and Production (EURECA-PRO), organize the Space Summer School, a summer program dedicated to the modern developments in space science and technology.
The summer school will take place from 4 to 12 July 2026, at the premises of the Technical University of Crete. The program aims at creating an interdisciplinary learning and collaboration environment, bringing together scientists, researchers, and young professionals interested in the rapidly growing ecosystem of space science and the new space economy.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of thematic areas covering key aspects of the space sector:
Celestial Science
Space Engineering
Earth Observation
Navigation and Telecommunications
Robotics
Space Mining
Space Architecture
Human Performance and Health
Space Management and Innovation
Space Policy and Law
Through lectures, discussions, and interactive activities, the program aims to inspire the next generation of scientists and professionals who will contribute to shaping the future of space research and technology.
During the summer school, participants will travel to the island of Gavdos for a one-day field experience. They will visit the satellite altimetry calibration station located on the island and spend the night camping in tents, while also taking part in astronomical observations using a high-precision telescope.
