New Joint Master's Program on "Responsible Consumption and Production under Sustainable Mining" between TUC and TUL was approved by HAHE

A new Joint Master's Program on "Responsible Consumption and Production under Sustainable Mining", proposed by the Technical University of Crete (TUC) in collaboration with the distinguished Technical University of Leoben (TUL) - Montanuniversität Leoben of Austria, has been approved by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE).

This new collaboration between the Technical University of Crete, and its School of Mineral Resources Engineering in particular, with one of the leading European Technical Universities in the field of Mineral Resources Engineering comes in response to the growing need for scientists and professionals who combine know-how, innovation and environmental responsibility.

The new Master's Study Program focuses on critical topics, such as:

  • responsible consumption and production
  • the responsible use of energy resources
  • sustainable technologies for raw materials research and exploitation
  • sustainable technologies for recycling
  • critical raw materials
  • circular economy in the mining sector
  • sustainable management of mineral resources
  • restoration and monitoring of mining areas
  • application of advanced technologies in mineral resources engineering

Aiming to address global challenges, such as climate change, the depletion of raw materials and the social acceptance of mining activities, the program offers a multidisciplinary, internationally oriented educational experience.

This collaboration is supported and is strengthened by the European University on Responsible Consumption and Production (EURECA-PRO) alliance, in which both the Technical University of Crete and the Technical University of Leoben are actively participating. Participation in EURECA-PRO enhances the strategic maturity and quality assurance of the new Master's Study Program, promoting inter-university mobility, cutting-edge research and joint European educational identity in the field of sustainable development.

Through this initiative, the Technical University of Crete establishes further its international presence and contributes substantially to the strengthening of the Greek Higher Education sector, providing students and professionals with the necessary skills to lead the green and digital transition.
